Who we are

Our aim is to improve the quality of life of everyone who has epilepsy and those who care for them.

Asociación de Epilepsia de España is a non-profit  organisation that was set up in xxx by a group of neurologists who specialise in epilepsy in order to improve the quality of life of people who have epilepsy in Spain.

Aims

  • To support, inform and offer advice to people with epilepsy and their relatives.
  • To create awareness-raising and educational programmes to improve public understanding of epilepsy.
  • To become a public forum and defender of epilepsy, promoting legal and civil rights for people who have epilepsy.
  • To encourage and support the performance of research into both medical and pharmacological treatment and social and psychological treatment.

International Bureau For Epilepsy

Asociación de Epilepsia is a member of the International Bureau For Epilepsy (IBE), the international body that groups together national epilepsy associations.

Board

Asociación de Epilepsia is chaired by Dr Antonio Russi Tintoré, a neurologist and epileptologist who has more than 30 years' experience in this field. Dr Russi is the manager of Epilepsia Russi Institut and the head of the Epilepsy Unit at the Electroencephalography Department at the Teknon Medical Centre run by the Quiron Salud group. Dr Russi is also involved in organising congresses and conferences and is a highly-respected clinical researcher in the development of new antiepileptic drugs.

Mission and vision

Our vision is to create a society in which everyone with epilepsy can lead a normal life. Our mission is to work for and on behalf of epilepsy patients and their families in order to minimise the limitations epilepsy may cause patients, and enhance their quality of life.

Our activities: "Epilepsy Awareness"

The foundation currently organises various informative events for epilepsy patients in which it seeks to bring professionals from all areas together to keep them up-to-date with the latest news, advances and treatments for epilepsy. The latest event at the Teknon Medical Centre in Barcelona was held on International Epilepsy Day on 26 March 2015.
